If I use:

Exclude*:\...\logcaster\...\*

Will that exclude subdirectories as well within the logcaster directory.  I
want to exclude everything under logcaster including files and
subdirectories

 
It will not. However, you commented that you were trying to rid yourself of 
file backups that failed (for whatever reason). *That*, the statement will do. 
Besides, if you have to restore the entire filespace, you may *want* to be able 
to restore directory structure.
