Thanks for the link. I checked the page and some others. It seems that
TSM 5.1.x is currently supported on XP. However, future versions, 5.2 and
later will not be according to the documentation on the site. Do you know
of any other ideas I might try with XP. I'm thinking if the ultrium
drivers for 2003 don't work, I may open a PMR.

Version 5.1
An Intel Pentium or compatible processor, or multi-processor based
computer

110 MB available disk space for full installation
128 MB of RAM (minimum 256 MB recommended)

Version 5.1
Any one of the following operating systems:

Windows XP Pro
(Future releases of the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server will not be
supported on Windows XP Pro)
Windows 2000 Pro
Windows 2000 Server
Windows 2000 Advanced Server
Windows 2000 DataCenter
Windows NT 4.0 SP5
Windows NT 4.0 SP6a

NOTE: For Windows 2000, all service packs are supported.

NOTE: IE5 or later must be installed on NT4 but does not have to
1 be the default browser. IE5 comes standard with all editions of
1 Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

Version 5.1
One of the following, which comes standard with the current Windows NT, Windows
XP, or Windows 2000 operating system:
Named Pipes
TCP/IP

need
for a "mobile" tsm solution from time to time. I am trying to talk to a
single, manual, ADIC LTO200D drive. I had communications with the tape
drive natively through windows, but even after I disable the media changer
through the O/S, I can't get TSM to talk with the drive. I am using the
IBM Ultrium drivers for the tape drive, but it is not working.

This configuration has worked for us in the past on a Thinkpad running
Windows 2000 Professional. I believe this is a device driver issue with
Windows XP. Is there anyway I can make the device driver work with
Windows XP so I can move data to the ADIC drive or should I look for an
Ultrium driver that works on XP or 2003 since 2003 has similarities to
XP.<

In answer to your question as to why W2KPro works and XP doesn't, check
the server requirements page at
