Hi,
What type of collocation are you using. Filespace or node?
Regard,
Karel

Believe me, I would if I could. It's a management decision. They want our
core critical servers restored as quickly as possible so they've mandated
that the offsite pool is collocated. (It's frighteningly easy for a server
to be included on the "Critical" list.) The problem remains however, WHY am
I seeing 150-160 tapes for the offsite pool ejected from the library every
day while there are only 45 or so servers writing to the pool? Is each
server's data begin spread over 3 different tapes? If so this is not an
effective use of tapes. Not to mention counter productive for reducing the
amount of tape mounts required for a restore. What's going on here? Is there
any way for me to get this under control? Is this NORMAL behavior? If so
perhaps I have some ammunition for my argument against collocating the
offsite pool.
Take care,
Al

Make sure that your OFFSITE pool is NOT collocated.

Hello Group,
I am fairly new to using an automated library. We've just
moved to one from a manual library. I am having a problem with too many
tapes from my offsite pool leaving the library every day when MOVE DRM is
run. Our core group of critical servers are going to a collocated pool. The
number of nodes using this pool is approximately 45. My problem is that
between 150 and 160 tapes are ejected from the library on a daily basis! An
equal number of tapes are returning from offsite. I expected that the number
of tapes going offsite each day would be approximately equal to the number
of nodes using the collocated pool (Plus a few more tapes for the
non-collocated copypool and the DBB). Any advice on what I'm doing wrong?
I am running TSM 5.2.0.0 on an AIX-RS/6000. I have a 3494 library
