Hi all,

I get a lot of these media errors lately. Guess this is media related, but what
should I do??

Date/Time Message
-------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------
10/02/03 15:06:25 ANR8302E I/O error on drive DRV_3580_F5R07 (/dev/rmt32)
                       (OP=READ, Error Number=5, CC=0, KEY=08, ASC=14, ASCQ=03,
                       SENSE=71.00.08.00.00.00.00.1C.00.00.00.00.14.03.00.00.20-
                       .76.00.00.00.01.20.20.20.20.20.20.20.0A.00.00.45.5C.4C.5-
7, Description=An undetermined error has occurred).
Refer to Appendix D in the 'Messages' manual for
                       recommended action.

TSM messages says "End-of-data not found". I cannot find a recommended action
in Appendix D for this message.
Appendix D is only about "Device Errors in AIX System Error Log".
SCSI Reference tells me: A READ type operation failed because a format
violation related to a missing EOD data set.

OK? Should I replace the tape? Or should I upgrade firmware? (IBM 3580 LTO-1
with 35V0)

Thanks,

Marcel Anthonijsz
