I see a lot of folks are already covering most required, need to know
information requests, to assist in this difficulty but could you also
mention if you do something like run the backups to disk and then have the
data migrate to tape and is the restore coming from tape ? and do you dump
it all into a single diskpool ??? and it won't matter if you have
collocation file on your tape pool because all tdp/r3 data goes into a
single filesystem name of /tdpmux (well, that is the name on tdp/r3 3.2.x
anyway)

a restore will call for data in the order it was pushed
files migrate from disk to tape in the order largest to smallest
if all data is on tape, probably many sessions are waiting on the same
piece of media...

if such is the case, often increasing the number of restore sessions to
something wildly high (such as 50 or 100) will help because say you have
~about~ 5 tapes on which your data resides... all sessions except 5 will go
into media wait so the other 45 or 95 won't really be using resources...
where if you only have 5 or 10 sessions running, they all might be waiting
on the same piece of media and leaving the other 4 pieces of media not
utilized (for the time being)

just a thought...
Dwight
