Don't count on it.  The further you deviate in platform, version, release,
word-length, etc. the more you are gambling that something like that will work.
Worse, if it initially looks like it works, and then you get some days into it
and it implodes, you're looking mighty bad.  Remember: it's not your data -
you're just responsible for it.
