However, before
moving the tape to the second address, it sends a command to the library to
move the second tape to the first slot (which it just filled), then getting
an error from the library, send another command to move the tape to the
second slot.  For the third tape, try 1 then 2 then 3 and so on.

I have never observed this behavior on any of the libraries we have used
that have a bulk I/O port.  The tapes get ejected into each slot in the
Bulk I/O one slot after the other, with no indication that a slot that has
been filled has been targeted a second time, and never with any error
messages on the libraries.

To date, my experience has been mainly with IBM libraries (3494 Magstar,
3584 LTO, 3583 LTO) but the Dell PowerVault 136T also behaves the same
way.  I believe that the IBM 3583 and the Dell are both OEM'ed versions of
an ADIC library.
