I have been using TSM since v3.1 on an AIX OS, using a 3570 MagStar
2-drive/20 slots library. This is still running and I am its Administrator
also.

We have changed over to TSM on our W2K network (replacing Veritas Backup
Exec-Yeh!!).

The W2K network has a HP 718 DLT Library, w/1 drive-8 slots.

Env:

W2K, SP3
ITSM v5.1.6.3
Clients 5.1.5.15
HP 718 DLT library, 1 drive, 8 slots
13 hour backup window
~20 servers only to be backed up (no wrkstns)
NO diskpool (yet-I am asking for this and hopefully will get one shortly)
I backup ~250 GB nightly

I have gone thru the ADSM.org looking for tips on setting up ITSM w/only 1
drive and have found several good tips.

Other Questions I have:

1) How do other TSM Admins save the db file, config, and volh files? via
diskette? DLT tape? or another server?
I need to physically take these off-site for DR purposes.

2) How do I set-up my mgmt class settings to do (verexist, verdel,
retextra, retonly):
full backup each week + incr (for 3 weeks of month)
archive last week of month for off-site vaulting for 5 years

or should I do just backup sets lasting 5 years?

3) Where is the "standard" dsm.opt for NT and for W2K clients?
or is it in some manual?

4) Which manual to go to for determining the proper BufPoolsize for the
TSM server?

5) What client option to set for multiple streams from client to server?
