Restoring to another host is easy.

On serverc (the new server),

STEP1) Since this is Windows, open a DOS prompt and CD into the baclient
subdirectory.

STEP2) Start the TSM client this way:

     dsm -virtualnodename=servera (the old server)

The TSM client window will prompt you for the password of servera.
Or, you can override the client name and password with your TSm admin id and
password.

The file tree you will see shows the files in the backup inventory for
servera.

STEP3) Select the files you want to restore

STEP4) You MUST specify an output destination for the restore (not just
"restore to original location"),
because TSM doesn't just see the name C$ or D$, it uses the full UNC names.

Click RESTORE, and everything works like you would expect...

like to know how to restore files to a new server that was a consolidation
of
2 servers. servera had 2 filespaces c$ and d$, this server was consolidated
with another server ex. serverc which has its own c$ and d$ filespaces. how
would one get files back from the old filespaces. can the old filespaces be
reassigned to the new consolidated server.
