Subject: Re: TSM 5.2 Announced
Now you would think that with a newer release there would be more Linux
distributions supported and a newer kernel? Not so. Check out the
"Operating system requirements" below. This is pretty lame.
Linux x86 Server Requirements for Tivoli Storage Manager V5.2
The Tivoli Storage Manager server on Linux x86 requires the following
hardware and software:
* Machine An Intel. 32-bit symmetric multiprocessor (SMP) or
uniprocessor (UP)
* Minimum memory and space requirement to run:
o RAM 128 MB
o Disk space 68 MB hard disk space (includes full install,
9 MB recovery log, 17 MB database)
* Operating system requirements
o Red Hat Linux Advanced Server 2.1 with kernel 2.4.9-e.10
(UP) or 2.4.9-e.10enterprise SMP
o SuSE Enterprise Server 7 with kernel 2.4.18 (Release 243)
or SuSE Enterprise Server 8/United Linux 1.0
Note: Only the following vendor kernel configurations are
supported:
o Red Hat 32 bit: 2.4.9-e.10, 2.4.9-e.10enterprise
o SuSE Enterprise Server 7 32-bit only: 2.4.18-4 GB (for UP),
2.4.18-64GB-SMP (for SMP). The kernel must be release 243.
