Just write a Unix script that tsm kicks off with a command action
schedule and then have that script put the tablespaces in backup mode, do a
dsmc arch of the data files, control files, and archive logs then have it
take the tablespaces back out of backup mode. You can get a list of data
file and control files by selecting them out of v$datafile I believe the
view is and v$controlfile the dba would know what I'm talking about.
That's the best way unless you want to use RMAN which I'm not sure
how that works on Linux systems. I mean it's Oracle the O/S shouldn't
matter for the most part. Now remember the database needs to be in:
"ARCHIVE-LOG-MODE" and there must be a user like on defined in the O/S, in
the "/etc/passwd" file in Oracle as well identified externally this way
"sqlplus -s \" can login automatically by the script to put the tablespaces
in and out of backupmode and issue the queries against the views.
We have this running nicely on Redhat 7 Linux systems just fine with
Oracle 8 databases going to TSM client 5.1.0 and TSM server 4.2.2.13

I have a customer which is implementing an Oracle dabase on his linux
redhat machine, and I was wondering if any of you gurus, knew what could
be done with tivoli to back this up.
The customer says he preffers hot backups. What do you think.
Thanks,
