I have restored this database to a "spare" machine, unconnected to any
network. There, just for testing and satisfying my curiousity, I performed
an AUDITDB. That AUDITDB found many inconsistencies, so I concluded those
inconsistencies are also in the database on the production server.

Although there aren't any problems that I've noticed with the production
server at the moment, there have been in the past (at a lower 4.2.2.x
level): the server crashed at least once, and we were affected by the
problem when connecting with the Win2000-client as a node that has
non-Unicode filespaces. Plus, we're planning to upgrade to TSM 5.x soon,
and want the database to be clean.

Nothing in the documentation mentions that AUDITDB is a command that is not
to be used under normal circumstances; it just states that AUDITDB will fix
inconsistencies.

So, since the sending of my first mail, the AUDITDB processed two entries.


If this is going to take too long, I'll abort the process and restore the
database backup that was taken just before the auditdb was started.
