Yes, and it does have two benefits
- no need to dsmfmt
- better performance (slightly on AIX, big improvement on Solaris)
AFAIK there no big drawbacks.

Has anyone ever used raw logical volumes for the db when at D.R. ? and
does
this cut out having to do dsmfmt? are there any drawbacks or benefits drom
doing this?
