You been a great help..Thanks to you.... Now i know where the pitfalls are.

Jack..thanks for the advice..it worked. The problem got resolved after i
stopped and restarted the server.

I am back in business....

In the worst case, stop and restart the server process.
On the volume re-use, in general, I suggest keeping it as long as you are
keeping
database backups to recover from.

30 days is a bit much, but it may take 30 days after you change it to have
backups
'roll off' of the 30 day retention that was in effect when they are
generated.  This may
be totally wrong, so I will wait to hear from some folks that know better
than I for a
correction.
