I believe it gets read when the service starts. I would recommend
starting and stopping all your TSM client services on the node you
change the dsm.opt on.

Subject: when is dsm.opt read?
Server 5.1.1 client Netware 4.2 with 4.2.1 client software
If I make a change to the DSM.OPT, will it take effect at the next
backup? (Does the dsm.opt get read every time, or just when the acceptor
( dsmcad )is loaded? )
Thanks, Doug
