No, only from client. Can be run from cron or whatever.
Well, actually if you want you can run from server.
Just setup a schedule that has ACTION of CMD and use the script
that does the deletes as the command. You could even pass
parameters to it if you want. (These commands don't have to
actually backup/archive something, they can do other things.)

Thanks for explanation....

So the Oracle DBA has to run RMAN to delete the files older than 30
days as
required?
Or can it be ran from TSM Server?

You have set it up correctly. TDPO doesn't actually use TSM
versioning to delete old backups. That is done with RMAN scripts
on the client where Oracle resides. Look at your RMAN documentation.
There should be a sample script installed also. Basically you set up
the script to delete data older than x number of days. Deletes this
data from RMAN catalog and TSM server.

Ha! one more question or verification for default mgmt for TDP for
ORACLE
running RMAN

I have it set up as listed below that since ORACLE TDP uses unique
name
convention
does this retention keep one copy of the data or should I update the
Retain Extra Versions to 30
to keep a copy for 30 days then does TSM delete the 31st copy on day
31
?

Policy Policy Mgmt Copy Versions Versions
Retain Retain
Domain Set Name Class Group Data Data
Extra Only
Name Name Name Exists Deleted
Versions Version
--------- --------- --------- --------- -------- --------
-------- -------
ORACLE_D- ACTIVE ORACLE_MG STANDARD 1 0
0 0
 OM

The admin guide has the setting I have currently listed above but the
Oracle DBA's want to be able to restore back 30 days.
Thanks

Justin
