dsmserv restore db also worked for me with automated libraries. The manual
states that "dsmserv loaddb" works only with manual libraries, but if you
have a valid devconfig file, dsmserv restore db should work ok.

Subject: URGENT - Quick Procedure Needed for using DSMSERV RESTORE DB
with a 3590 DB Backup tape in a 3494 Library
TSM documentation states somewhere that DSMSERV utilities (RESTORE DB ?)
only support manual libraries. If I want to use a 3494 library tape for
the restore, what steps must I take to load the DB Backup tape into a
drive before I issue the DSMSERV RESTORE DB command ? Do I need to put
the library online/offline? Do I need to insert the tape in drive
manually, using a utility or via some other method, or just let the
library do its usual magic?
If there's a quick FAQ or manual section for this, please just point me to
it , thanks.
-rsvp asap, thanks
