Very often there is more than one way to accomplish a task. I personally
prefer to make upgrades using the sequence:
1. Setup a test server (AIX 4.3) with old TSM version
2. Restore the DB there
3. Perform TSM upgrade writing down all steps (possible also in few
scripts)
4. Perform OS upgrade after TSM upgrade (when TSM 4.1 was released AIX 5L
was not available, while ITSM 5.1 is aware of both AIX 4.3.3 and 5.1)
5. If everything is fine, perform steps 1-4 for production TSM, backup DB
after restore and restore it on new server.
The only drawback of my method is if the new system does not support old
version of OS. You have not p670/p690 but M80 so AIX 4.3.3 is not a
problem.

Subject: TSM Upgrade

Current system:
R40 AIX 4.3.3 ML8
TSM 4.1.5

New system:
M80 AIX 5L Will I need a specific ML?
TSM 5.1x.

Current Plan:
1. Load AIX 5L on new server
2. Install TSM 4.1.5.
3. Restore DB onto new server.
4. Upgrade TSM to 5.1.x

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
