Hi ??SMers (Thanks for the reply David)

It seems odd to me that the data is not taken from the server. Wouldn't
this be a much quicker option? Anyone know why it works this way?

Also, I'm running TSM 3.7.3.8 (I know it's old, but Tectrade are coming in
a few weeks to bring us bang up to date) on a Solaris 2.7 server. The
client that I wish to archive from is running TSM Client 3.7.2.0.

When I run an archive, will the origional data automatically be removed? I
would rather run the archive, check that it worked ok and then remove the
data.

So, in this case, I want to archive the dir /wispers/home/fred

Do I simply use the command

archive -subdir=yes "/wispers/home/fred*"

Thanks in advance

It is requested from the client. It doesn't just take some already backed
data and archive it. Archive works differently, can have different mgmnt
classes, etc.

Hi all

Just a quick question here. When an archive is performed, am I right in
thinking that the data is taken directly from the TSM server, or is it
requested from the client again?

Thanks in advance
