What I like is just do it on occupancy.
Divide GB of occupancy into your cost or desired ROI, and you have a number.
In any case, run it through your reasonableness filter before sending out
bills based on it.
At a business we were a profit center and did
backups based on GB stored. But the number had to be cheaper than the
customers showing up with a DLT and changing their own tapes, plus do some
extra added value for it.
