I've missed this in Jan. Anyway an answer.
Define a class with retonly & retextra = 2192 days, frequency=7.
Later bind the directory in question + subdirs to that class
No change in schedules at all. If data is *really* changing you will get
again those 312 copies but in most cases you will not.

Subject: HELP me with DIR backup

I am currently running TSM 4.1.2.0 on an IBM ESA system. I currently have
an incremental backup schedule for a node called LDMZDC01which is backed
up
daily and retained for 45 days.

I now have a further requirement to back up a web directory & assoc
sub-dirs
once per week of server LDMZDC01 and retain this for 6 years. I know I
can
achieve this by using the command function and archiving the directory and
all sub directories to a different management class and storage pools. The
downside of this being that I will retain a full archive copy of this data
for every week for 6 years, approx. 312 copies. This would take up
considerable cartridge and/or disk space.

Does anyone know of a way to weekly incrementally backup this data?
Without
impacting my daily incremental backup of the disk

thanks john
