It shouldn't. Which "4.x" client are you using?

For 4.1, you need to be sure that USEUNICODEFILENAMES NO is in effect. For 
4.2 (be sure to use 4.2.1.20 or higher), you shouldn't be seeing the 
problem.

No use. 4.x client has this problem also.
