Do not go by the individual file version information. The "official" TSM
version number is the number that is reported when you start the TSM
server (i.e. 4.2.1.0).

You can also determine the TSM version number by doing any of these:

a) Issue the QUERY STATUS command from the Admin CLI. The first line of
output shows the version number.

b) Start the backup-archive client CLI and issue the QUERY SESSION command
(or any other command that would require a connection to the TSM server).
You will get a message saying, "Session established", followed by the TSM
server version.

c) Start the backup-archive client GUI and select the "File/Connection
Information" menu item. This will show you the TSM server version.

There are a variety of other ways, too; these are just some of them. But
all of them will show you the same version number, and that is what you go
by. The file version information might be useful if you had a serious
problem, and support wanted to verify that the proper files were
installed. But when you want to know your TSM version number, use the
methods I mentioned above.

The only dumb question is the one that goes unasked.
The command line is your friend.

W2K Server 4.2:
The properties page for adsmdll.dll says Version:4 Release:2 Level:1 Fix:0
Build:69? When I start TSM from the command line, it say Version 4,
Release 2, Level 1.0. Help on the MMC does not tell me version and
release
information. What does the build level refer to? And how can I tell what
fix level I am at? I just upgraded from TSM 4.1 to 4.2 without installing
any patches or PTFs, so am I really at fix level 0?
