AIX Striping or just let TSM do it?

Subject: AIX Striping or just let TSM do it?

I am trying to weigh the benefits of two alternatives for TSM disk
areas: I could allocate them using AIX Striping, or I could just
allocate separate areas and let the TSM server divide the I/O between
them.

Which is better? Are there performance/recoverability tradeoffs?
Are the answers different for the Database, Log, and Storage Pool?
