Thomas,
Well I went from 4.2.0.0 to 4.2.10 on TSM under os390 2.10 last month and we
started first time
with '/UPGRADEDB'
It started ok and I saw ANR0363I Database was automatically upgraded to the
server program
level.
I am interested in what problems you see.
I was recommended to upgrade to fix corrupt writes to the volume history file.
It did not fix this by the way.
I also experienced an abend of the server a few days after the upgrade, which I
was told was
down to aborted lock requests and that I need to go to 4.2.1.6 to fix.
There was also a circumvention which was to increase the server
RESOURCETIMEOUT
option from the default of 10 to 100.
I applied the circumvention and the problem has not recurred but you should be
aware.
regards.
John

We are running a 4.2.0.0 server under OS/390. In response to recent problems
we are going to upgrade the server as soon as our systems programmer returns
from vacation. The readme file for 4.2.1.0 indicates that it is always
necessary to upgrade the TSM database (by starting the server once with
the '/UPGRADEDB' parameter) when installing this level. There is no
indication that servers already at an earlier maintenance level of 4.2
can skip the database upgrade. Is the readme correct on this point?
