Hi Ed

I had a problem with our 3494 that might be related.
For reasons to do with AS400 connection, this library had a lot of manual
intervention. Thus it kept being put offline and online up to 10 times each
day. The problem that developed was that during the process of going online,
the accessor moves from the bottom left corner of the library to the top right.
We have two sections installed, and the power drain as the accessor moved on
both axes at maximum speed was enough to trip the power supply.

The CEs took ages to figure this out and replaced almost every accessor
component. Once they realized what was going on and replaced the offending
power supply, everything worked fine.

We've had a problem with our 3494 from day one with unexpected power
outages. Our CE claims theres a design flaw in the power sequencing module,
we've had three outages since Oct 2000 and all have been fixed by flipping
the breaker to the 3494 and powering the box back on. Two of the outages were
to move it over to a "total UPS".
