Never is a long time.  TSM writes bitfiles on tapes.  To the extent these
files are clear text, they could be read.  One would have to write code to
do it, but it can be done.  To easily read the tapes you need the db.

Is this a huge concern?  If it is, degauss the tapes when you are finished
with them.
