We have a similar environment except we are running SAP also and we have
anywhere from a 300 GB - 1.4 TB database. We use the TDP product and do not
really see much of a performance hit. We were using SQL Backtrack and
really ran into a lot of problems with it. It's advantage was that it was
quicker then TDP but more prone to failures if we had the least tape drive
hiccup.
