No, we are using the same port on the 3494. When it is
connected to the H50 it will not initialize. When it is connected
to the SP2 node it initializes fine. Thanks for your suggestion,
though. I meant to put that in my first post.

Are you using a different rs232 port on the 3494 for your h50?  Does
the
IBM engineer need to initialise the rs232 port if it wasn't previously
used
before?  Look on the System Summary window at "Direct Attach Ports".
You
might be able to do it yourself if you have Service Mode access.
