I would say that TSM checked out the volume to the 3494 convenience door on
11/10, somebody opened the door, forgot to remove the volume for offsite
transport, then closed the door. The 3494 slotted the volume and put it in
"insert" category (FF00). You can't checkin the volume as scratch because
it is a private volume, and TSM thankfully refuses to do that.

Sounds like you just need to physically remove the volume from the library
and get it to the vault. Changing the category to FF10 should have the
desired effect (or you can check it in as private and check it back out).

I have a strange phenomenon that occurred with one of my offsite tapes. The
tape was written on the 9th as you can see below. It was supposed to be
checked out on the morning of the 10th but it was not. All data points to
it
being what it says it is yet I can't figure out why this happened. mtlib
showed the tape in FF00 status this morning, waiting for checkin, but when
I
ran checkin it said it could not be assigned a status of scratch.

If I query the act log for the tape number anytime the last 4 days and I
see
nothing, this is very strange.... In fact I don't even see anything in the
activity log on this tape for a week. I would have thought seeing it in q
volhist there should be something..... I'm running AIX 4.3.3 with TSM
4.2.1.7. Things have been very quiet since the .7 patch was installed.

Any ideas anyone?????
