Hope you're not set on HP-UX for your LAN-free backups. That is about the
only platform that is not currently supported for SAN/LAN-free. We have a
client that is all HP and the 'word' we got from Tivoli is that SAN/LAN-free
will be in the TSM 5.x version due out 1Q2002. If you look on the TSM
supported platform page where it lists LAN-free, you'll see a '*' beside
them. Looking at the bottom for the '*' it says not supported on HP-UX.

If you are going to implement TSM in a SAN, first you need to know if the
TSM Storage Agent is supported in HP an SUN. The Storage Agent is the TSM
component wich enables the Lan-Free backup.
There are some considerations about the switchs. If you plan to use LTO
Library with McData switchs, there is a special configuration for that, I
mean, It4s necessary to buy additional switchs (Mc Data ES-1000) to connect
them between the McData Directors and the LTO.
With Brocade Switch there is no problem with LTO Libraries.
