TSM guru's

We are implementing an NSM network storage manager model C01 with a LTO
library attached to it. At the moment the NSM has 87 nodes and a total of 16
TB. But we are now experiencing , already after a few months, a lot of
troubles with tapes and drives.

We seem to have a number of broken LTO tapes which gives a new meaning to
the expression losing data because these tape can contain over 100GB !!!
Does anyone know why the space reclamation proces hangs on these broken
tapes and isn't able to work around them? Is there a way or is this a known
problem?

message from the actlog:
09/23/01 10:06:13 ANR1259W Files on volume U11072 needed for offsite

reclamation cannot be accessed - access mode is

                       "unavailable" or "offsite".

What I believe to happen after this message is that all previously reclaimed
tapes during this particular process where "not reclaimed".
