I completely agree!
If the customer is suspecting the backup integrity he/she can verify it.
But the backup is not only secondary copy of the data. It is the PROCEDURE
for data retrieval in case of failures or disaster. Thus after initial
implementation of the backup solution test recovery MUST be done.
Afterwards it have to be performed 1-2 times a year just to prove that
people know how to react when the problem already occured and the time is
very-very limited.

Mat,

Comparing bit-by-bit is not enough, Even though files look exact copy of
orignal(except recent updates) customer should be advised to do
Disaster-recovery test.
