We are currently having a problem with backing up one particular volume out
of several in a Novell Netware v5 cluster; tsm client version 4.1.1.0, tsm
server version 4.1.3.0

We can backup all the other clustered volumes without any problem except for
the volume containing (and called) GROUPWISE.  When trying to backup this
volume, we get a tsa error message:
        "tsa500-x-306 unable to open datastream, check user rights."
for every single file, along with an "ane4007e access denied" message echoed
to the tsm server - so many in fact that the server slows to a crawl, with
the actlog up to 20 minutes behind on its updating.

We do not think that this is a problem with user rights, since the backup
user can happily copy, rename and delete files on the GROUPWISE volume.  The
problem occurs for ALL files on the volume.  From the backup user, we have
also copied in files from another volume, and these in turn fail to backup.
Similarly, files copied by the backup user FROM the GROUPWISE volume to one
of the other volumes backup successfully.

This points to some adverse interaction between the tsa and the volume
definition, but we have been unable to track it down so far.

Has anybody seen this sort of thing? And what was the cure?
