I have a 3494 tape library attached to an AIX server running TSM Server
4.1.3.
The cosutmer bought 3590 Extended High Performance Cartridges (green labeled)
and was told that these cartridges had a capacity of 120GB.
When defining the 3590 device class we choose 'DRIVE' in the 'RECORDING
FORMAT' parameter to let TSM identify the format of the cartridges (checking
the boxes when definening the device class, it shows that this cartridges
(3590E-C)have a capacity of 120 GB). When using the cartridges for backups,
the 'q vol' command shows the cartridges with a capacity of only 60 GB an a
status of 'Full'(This would be valid if we were using 20GB cartridges as we
are using 3 to 1 HW compression).

We changed the recording format parameter specifying the '3590E-C' value for
de feined device class and now the 'q vol' command shows a capacity of only 20
GB for the used cartridges.

I would like to know if there are any further configurations to use the
complete 120GB of these cartridges or if there are any other variables to
consider.

Thanks in advance, regards.
