Well, changing the TAPEIOBUFS setting from 1 to 9 made no significant
change !

Any other suggestions or am I simply out of luck and have to live with 3-4
hour DB backups ?

what is your tapeiobufs setting ? Can you see better tape throughput with
migration processing ?
