Have you checked the write-protect settings on the physical media?

What determines if a tape is write protected? Had discovered that tape were in
a status of Private but not being used. I updated the volume and placed in
scratch but when TSM attempts to use as scratch he says that the volume is
write protected ? Can't explain why this is happening...
