Hello Michael,

which drivers do you use in the systems, NT or manufacturer? And which date
do the drivers have? I would suggest to update your test system to the
latest driver version for the adapter. You can get it from

http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.html?cat=/Product/ASC-29160&filekey=ultra160_fms_v112.exe

If that doesn't help you should try to update the drive firmware.

I haven't used DLT8000 with v4.1.3.0 but with 3.7.4.x (and it works).

Hello Dirk,
Hello Dirk,

at customer side there is an Compaq server.
But I test it with an Siemens server and a Adaptec 29160 controller and I
had the same problem.

Hello Jack,

we use original Quantum IV tapes.

Has anybody installed DLT8000 drives with TSM 4.1.3.0 under NT and the
system works?

Thanks.
Michael

Hello,

is this a Compaq server?

I know there are problems with the standard NT SCSI adapter drivers and
DLT8000 drives. We observed this problems especially with Compaq servers
when the Compaq SCSI Controller drivers from the SSD was NOT used. The
standard NT SCSI drivers seem to have problems to communicate with DLT8000
drives, DLT4000 and DLT7000 worked fine though.

Knows anyone this problem with DLT8000 and TSM 4.1.3.0 under NT?

To label a tape works fine.
When TSM try to write data on the tape a undefined write error occurs
without any sense keys .
With the DLT7000 drives we have no problems.
