Anybody have any bad experience with tapes breaking in 3575 libraries? We have
6 C-XL drives with both blue and red tapes and both break.
When I started here over 4 months ago I found that we were loosing maybe 2
tapes a week. I opened cases and all were being broken cleanly at the
midpoint. I tracked it down via *SM actlog to apparently one of the 6 drives.
IBM replaced drive and the problem went away.
Now we have lost one tape about every 2 weeks in last 6 weeks, apparently from
different drives. (After first incident I personally examined every tape in
and out of library to eliminate any broken tapes in system.)
I have gotten tapes replaced from IBM, but want to know if this is peculiar to
us or if anyone else has seen this problem.
Thanks,
