Hi Mahesh,
I have also experienced this on older versions of TSM after I had had a 3590
serviced in the 3494. One way I found to get aroung the halt of the TSM server
was to delete the tape device and re-create it. Takes under one minute and
doesn't require downtime for TSM.
Thanks,
Joe

Hello WIZs,
I have following issue:
At times, the tape volume is not able to unload it self from a 3590
E1A tape drive ( for any reason) and the drive becomes 'unavailable"
for TSM. Though the problem gets rectified in the library but I "have"
to restart the TSM server to make it available again in TSM.
When I manually try to update the status of the drive , using "update
drive .." command it gives me error:
ANR8413E UPDATE DRIVE : Drive RMT1 is currently in use
I don't know where it gets locked?
Is there any way I can make it 'online' w/o restarting the TSM Server.
Details are:
OS: AIX 4.3
TSM : TSM 3.7.3
Library : 3494
Drive : Magstart 3590 E1A
Thanks in advance
Best Regards
Mahesh
