Paul,

Actually what you were told was incorrect for TDP for Exchange V1.
It is correct for the B/A client, since each file creates
a TSM object with the same name for the B/A client.
But, as Michel mentioned, each Exchange backup is a unique
object for TDP for Exchange V1.

But it looks like I don't need to address this one directly since
there are plenty of knowledgable TSMers on this list that have
more creative ways than me to help with a solution.

Michel's suggestion will work just fine. I would make sure that
if you run a double backup, that the second one is a "COPY"
type backup.

Another option is to use a second nodename and
run COPY backup to it once a month.

Thanks,

Del

The TDP for Exchange creates a file with a generated name. So every backup
has
its own particular name. So why do not you do a double backup the first of
the
month. One with your normal daily mgmtclass and one with a second opt file
where
you specify another mgmtclass? Both can be scheduled as command executions
and
will not run simultaneously because of one single schedules service at the
client.

Hi,

Any chance that Del could help me with an answer ?

Client Version -TDP 1.1.1.01
Server Version -OS390 3.1.2.55

I am currently running a full exchange backup of both the dir & is every
night and it is working great.
What is now required is that on the 1st of every month an archive is
written
and sent offsite. This is extracted via the managment class so I only want
the backup/archive from the 1st of the month then I need to have a seperate
management class from the rest of the month.
I have been told that if i run a backup with a seperate options file
specifying a 1st of the month management class that all my previous backup
versions with the normal daily management class will be rebound to the 1st
of the month management class ?, is this correct.

Is this incorrect or is there a better way to do this ?

thanks
