Hi All,
I'm relatively new to TSM, and have to implement the latest product (4.1)
shortly.
I have been reading the books (there's lots of them!) and have a
fundamental question concerning the interaction of Tivoli Space Manager
(HSM client) and the backup client. This is on AIX with latest IBM library
and disk fibre attached to SAN fabric.
I have 2 basic requirements:
a) to space manage several AIX filesystems
b) to backup files that are written into these filesystems
If I migrate the files to a spacemgtpool and then use a threshold on that
pool to spool files off to tape, and I choose the "migrate only if backup
exists" option (assuming I backup the file first) will I end up with 2
copies of the file in the tape pool? This obviously is crucial for sizing.
The other thing I'm confused about is what will happen in a disaster if all
the stubs are lost. Do I simply restore the files with "restoremigstate" to
magically recreate the stubs?
All help much appreciated,
Paul Claridge
PS I did browse the archive and sincerely hope 4.1 has improved!!
