I need to restore last month's backup of our *SM database temporarily
to retrieve some expired files. Then I will come back to the latest
version of the database. IBM ADSM support has asked me to perform the
following steps. Could you expand/modify this list based on your
experiences? I want to tread carefully through this minefield.

1.  backup volhist
2.  backup devconfig
3.  backup existing db
4.  halt server
5.  dsmserv format
6.  dsmserv restore db (old copy)
7.  start server
8.  checkin volumes
9.  retrieve data
10. halt server
11. dsmserv format
12. dsmserv restore db (latest)

Where can I get information on this in addition to that given in the
AIX Admin Reference?

I am running ADSM ver. 3.1.1.0 on AIX 4.2.1 (server & client)
