Gerard, this could be APAR IX89878. If so, it is fixed by various AIX OS
upgrades. Check the levels of these components - if you still have the
problem then support should be able to help you.
     bos.mp to 4.3.3.2 (or whatever is the latest)
                  bos.sysmgt.serv_aid to 4.3.3.1
                  bos.rte.libpthreads to 4.3.3.2.
