Coni,
I can't tell you how much the Oracle client saved on tapes because we've
always used it (with Oracle V7 and ebu).
But, only used pages are backed up, whereas standard OS backup methods
backup all allocated pages.
If you are using Oracle 8 and hence rman, there are also incremental and
differential backups available, provided that you are prepared to wear the
increased time and complexity of restore .

Subject: ADSM Oracle client
Hi. Can anyone tell me if installing the ADSM Oracle client saved on tapes
and by how much? Currently our DBAs are compressing a number of databases
and backing them every night. My understanding of the Oracle client is
that only the files and tables that change get backed up instead of all of
the data...if that's the case, I'd like to STRONGLY encourage them to look
into this...but I'd like some ammunition in terms of your testimony.
Thanks in advance for your help.
