(Just informational as I
only saw 3 unrelated ANR8834E’s in the archive)
OS: AIX
4.3.2.0
TSM: 3.7.3.0
Library: Breece-Hill
Q215, DLT 7000 drives.
I started having error
messages this morning:
ANR8447E No drives are
currently available in library Q2LIB
The Q drive command showed
the 2 drives as online.
I don’t know what precipitated
this (maybe a power interruption?), but I checked the library and found tapes
physically mounted in the drives (TSM showed no mounts). I had the robotics (via manual keying)
move the tapes back to their original slots.
I tried an audit library
command, but received some error messages, primarily:
ANR8834E Library volume
B0002 is still present in library Q2LIB drive DRIVEA (/dev/mt2), and must be
removed manually.
(a similar message for
DRIVEB also).
I didn’t see any obvious commands
to remedy the situation, as the tapes had already been manually removed.
I both rebooted and restarted
TSM. I received messages telling
me to run audit library at startup, but when I did I immediately received the ANR8834E.
To remedy: I did a delete
drive command for both library drives. I then (re) defined them (don’t forget
to save your element information before deleting).
This seems to have done the
trick. Audit library then ran
successfully.
If someone has more
information about the root cause of ANR8834E, or a better corrective action, let
me know…just trying to save some time in the future with a possible work
around.
