Hi all,

Can anyone inform me of the real rules around prioritization of processes
on the server? I.E. if there are 2 tape reclamation processes active, 7 client
backup sessions active and all my tape drives are allocated - then I have an
emergency restore to perform - how does the ADSM server prioritize that restore
session to permit me allocation to a tape drive? If a backup is partially
complete and finished writing to one tape, and requires another tape, it seems
to just continue holding the drive for that session/process. I thought restores
overrode all other processes in priority (save for an ADSM db restore maybe).

I see some information in the Admin Guide about PREEMPTion of sessions for
higher priority sessions, but it basically reads to me as though you can use the
NOPREEMPT option in the server options file - but nothing about how to use
PREEMPT. Is this just the default?

     Thanks for any help,

                    Ginny
