Yes, it was too simple, or too general.  The information you provided was
incomplete, and we aren't sure what level of TSM knowledge you possess.  It
was similar to - I changed the spark plugs in my car, and it won't start -
why?

Doing a backup straight to tape is unnecessary in most TSM environments.
Backups go to disk, and backup stg pool or migrations go to tape from disk.
To tell if you're environment is set up correctly to accomplish this, there
are more queries with format=detailed that would be required.

What specifically is failing?  A backup that you sent straight to tape pool,
or a migration?  Have you done a q request to see if a tape mount is being
requested?  Have you pre-labeled your tapes?

This is a very helpful list, but we can't help yet.
