I am installing TSM in an HP-UX system. the customer has a Digital TL891
library.
We define it to TSM and we are able to write a label on the tapes, and the
system mounts them for backup but it gives an error when trying to write to
them.
The TSM version is an evaluation copy, and we get the following errors:
ANR9639W unable to load shared library ./dsmreg.sl
ANR8337I GENERICTAPE volume 000007E mounted in drive DRIVE2 (/dev/rtm/1m)
ANR1340I Scratch volume 000007E is now defined in storage pool LT981POOL
ANR8311E An I/O error occurred while accessing drive DRIVE2 (/dev/rtm/1m) for
WRITE operation, errno = 5
ANR1411W access mode for volume 000007E now set to "read-only" due to write
error
ANR1181E astxn.c336: Data storage transaction 0:23494 was aborted
ANR0532W smnode.c1417: transaction 0:23494 was aborted for session 278 for node
ESALC001 (HPUX)
..
.. (no data is processed)
..
ANR1341I Scratch volume 000007E has been deleted from storage pool LT981POOL
ANR8468I GENERICTAPE volume 000007E dismounted from drive DRIVE2 (/dev/rtm/1m)
in library ROBOT

We do not have a shared library, so we do not understand the initial mesage,
but in the messges book it says that :
"If this is an evaluation copy of the server then this message is normal for
the DSMREG library, since the library is only provided with purchase servers.
The server licensing will assume "Try and Buy" mode with sample licensed
options for a period of time."

This explanation is totally un-understandable to me.
What is a DSMREG library? Why do I need a shared library if I am not sharing
anything?
Could it be not having a proper license the problem of not been able to write
into the tapes?
Why is it that the tapes are labeled and mounted on the drives?
What is error number 5? where is it documented?
Please help me if you can.
Thanks you very much
