This seems to be described in APAR IC26574:
"ADSM SUN SOLARIS 2.5.1 CLIENT V3.1.0.8, IMMEDIATELY FAILS AFTER
START WITH SEGMENTATION FAULT. "
closed as ISV (independent software vendor)

Here is the conclusion of the APAR text:

COMMENTS: It is confirmed by Sun, that this is a Sun problem.
It was possible to recreate this problem in applying the
Sun patches 103640-32 plus 103627-13.
Sun support will process a fix with urgent priority.A fix will
be included in one of the next lists of 'recommended patches'.
We have no fix date from Sun. Until then, the customer should
not install patch 103640-32.

Hello, I just set-up a Solaris 2.5.1 system with all the latest patch
levels. I
then installed ADSM Client 3.1.0.8. I tried to run dsmc and I get
segmentation
fault right away. Truss shows it seems to have a problem with lwp_create.
Has
anyone else had a problem with ADSM v3.1.0.8 at Solaris 2.5.1 and most
recent OS
patches? The package I installed was IP21858 and pkginfo shows this is
Solaris
2.5.1 client.
